27A Reading Reflection No.3
1.
What surprised me the most was how the Wright brothers
were so alike and how well they were able to work with each other despite being
apart in age. This is actually what I admired the most about the Wright
brothers they had enough respect for one another and did not seem to give the
impression that one was superior over the other. There was honestly nothing
that I disliked about the entrepreneurs. Yes! The Wright Brothers encountered
many adversities and failures along the
way the biggest probably being so many failed test flights and another being
that they were unable to sell their invention to the U.S until after selling to
France.
2.
The Wright Brothers were determined, skilled,
intelligent, humble and quick to try again after failing. These are an
important set of skills for any entrepreneur to have.
3.
What confused me the most in the reading was
after so many attempts why hadn’t the brothers given up? They could have given up
and resumed their lives with Wilbur attending college as planned before the
hockey accident but they hadn’t, did they assume that they had come too far
with the plans to give up? Or were they worried that after all they’ve put into
the project would giving up give the opportunity to someone else to finish it?
4.
If I was able to ask the Wright Brothers two
questions I would ask them how one goes about working so well with someone co-partnering
especially if that someone is a member of your family? I would also ask if there
was a certain point that the brothers knew when to give the other space after a
disagreement? I would ask them these questions because if I am to start a
business of my own I would like to be able to work well with my employees
especially if I decide to hire family.
5.
I think the Wright Brother’s opinion of hard
work would have had to been determination and putting your all into your work
and believing in yourself and your work/project even after you have failed so
many times already. Yes I also believe in this opinion.
Although I did not read the book on the Wright Brothers myself, this write-up definitely makes me want to! In the last assignment, you mentioned that by working hard, and not giving up after failing, one can overcome difficult tasks… I believe this mindset is what kept them going through all their failures, and ultimately, enabled man to fly.
ReplyDeleteHey Chaton!
ReplyDeleteI too read the Wright Brothers Biography. I liked your first question regarding how the Wright brothers were able to work so well together especially being family. I know how difficult family can be sometimes so I really couldn't imagine working with them. Nice job on your reflection!
